When you are thinking about purchasing property it is important to check the status of the property, who the property belongs to and whether a property has legal disputes. Also, it is not possible for us to understand if there is any middleman who is trying to sell the property to us. At times GPA sells the property without the consent of the landowner which is considered illegal. Therefore we should always verify who is the landowner of the particular property before purchasing it. Let me share with you how to find property owner names for free. 

There are three ways to check the property owner name for free.

• You can ask the person who is selling the property to show land record details of a particular property. Encumbrance certificate, property tax receipts, electricity bills are generally issued under the name of the landowner.

• You can go to the land record office and check the land record details of the particular property.

• You can visit the official land record website of a particular state and check the landowner details. Personally, I think this is the easiest way to verify the owner of a specific land.

I live in Bangalore so I will share how to verify the ownership details in Karnataka online.

• Go to the Bhoomi website

• Tap on the 'For citizen' option on the homepage.

• Tap on the 'View RTC and MR' option

• After this, you need to enter information such as  District, Taluk, Hobli, Village, and Survey Number.

• Hit on 'Go'.

• You will get the landowner details on the screen.

You can also search for landowner details by using the Khata Number as well.

• You need to visit the land record website of Karnataka.

• Enter information such as district, Taluk, Hobli, Village and Khata Number.

• Hit on 'Get report' and you will be able to generate the details.
