When I moved into my new university in Delhi a few months ago, my family helped me in looking for a flat. But my family wasn’t okay with me living alone. So we found a 2bhk apartment. But now I had to look for a roommate who could take the other room, which seemed impossible to do. To see how to find flatmates in Delhi, I found some apps and websites online, which are used for finding people who are also looking for a flatmate.

I joined local Facebook groups that were created for Delhi's housing and flatmate markets. By posting my criteria online, to reach more people and make connections with them who could meet my needs right away. I also went to student gatherings and meetups in my community. These get-togethers offered a grand chance to meet possible roommates in a casual environment. However, the outcome was not fruitful, as I could not get potential roommates from these approaches. Hence, I checked out a few of the online platforms which could help me look for a roommate:

  • FindMyRoom

  • FlatBuddy

Websites like these are incredibly helpful. Among of these I mainly found my flatmate from NoBroker. I consider it to be a reliable option as their listings are trustworthy and verified. After finding a few potential flatmates, I set up meetings with them to get to know more about them. It is important to have an honest conversation about expectations, timetables, and habits to see if we would get along. I also consulted my friends and family about potential flatmates before moving in.

So, if you're looking for a housemate in Delhi, you should think about using internet resources like websites, and then setting up meetings in advance.
