Fitting a pedestal basin looked straightforward when I watched the plumber do it. He carefully first positioned the basin on the pedestal, marked the spots, drilled holes, and secured everything firmly with screws. After connecting the water and waste pipes, he checked for leaks and sealed the edges neatly. It took him just an hour, so let me share a brief on how to fit pedestal basin.

How to Fit a Pedestal Wash Basin?

The pedestal wash basin installation is quite easy, but you will need to have the right tools, like a drill, screws, a spanner, silicone sealant, and a spirit level. Once you have these, you will need to follow a few steps, starting with:

  • Positioning: Place the basin on the pedestal and make sure it aligns with the wall and mark the spots for screws and the waste pipe.

  • Drilling Holes: Next, drill holes in the wall and floor based on the markings.

  • Fixing the Basin: Then attach the basin to the wall using screws and secure the pedestal underneath, ensuring both are level.

  • Connecting Pipes: Finally, connect the water supply and waste pipes, test for leaks, and seal the edges with silicone for a neat finish.

If you follow these steps with precision, you can fit the pedestal wash basin easily, but if you do not have expertise, I will suggest you.

How to fit a countertop basin sink?

Hey there. I saw you asking how to fit a pedestal basin and I installed the same in my bathroom a while ago. So, I can help you by sharing the method.

How to Install Pedestal Basin?

Here is the complete process of installing a pedestal basin.

  1. First, turn off the water supply before beginning the work. Fix the flexible tap hoses to the tap tails and attach the taps to your basin.

  2. Fit the waste into its place as well. Position the pedestal in the place you want it to be and place the basin on top of it. See that the basin is fixed against the wall and sits well on top of the pedestal.

  3. Use a pencil to mark the position of the basin fixing holes, screw holes, and pedestal.

  4. Shift the basin and pedestal away from the wall. Take an electric drill and drill pilot holes in the floor and walls for the screws.

  5. Fit the rawl plugs after this If you need to make any adjustments in the pipework, do it at this point.

  6. Then, position your pedestal against the wall and screw in just part of the way.

  7. Place the basin on top of the pedestal and take a spirit level to see if the basin is levelled. Use pilot holes as a guide to screw into the wall.

  8. You then need to seal around the pedestal’s edges where it comes in contact with the floor and also align the basin’s back where it comes in contact with the wall.

  9. Screw in the floor and screw fully.

  10. Attach the waste pipe to the waste trap and connect the flexible connectors to the waste pipes.

  11. Switch on the water at the mains and see if there are any leaks.

This is how to fit pedestal basin. I hope it helps you!
