Recently, I planned to tackle my sliding wood closet door that just wasn’t sliding as smoothly as it should. It was one of those things I kept putting off. I hence hired our local carpenter to fix it. I also watched the process closely on how to fix a sliding wood closet door, I have shared the entire steps below for you.
How to Fix Sliding Wood Closet Doors?
These are the steps the carpenter followed to fix my sliding wood closet doors.
The first thing he checked was the wheels of my closet doors. He said sometimes the wheels can pop out of the track and it makes it hard for the door to slide smoothly. In my case, one wheel had slipped out of the upper track. He just lifted the door slightly and guided the wheel back into place.
Another thing that he informed me can cause sliding doors to stick is dirt or rust in the tracks. To clean, spray the tracks with a mixture of dish soap, vinegar, and water, and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, use a small scrub brush and clean out the dirt and rust.
He said if the wheels are damaged, you might need to replace them entirely.
I hope you found this helpful.
