Constant usage can cause significant wear and tear on the bathroom sink. Last month, I found out that there was a slight crack on my wash basin. I wasn't sure how to fix broken wash basin. So I was under this assumption that I should replace it. However, my dad said that I don't need to replace the entire sink to repair a chipped or cracked sink basin. I can share the steps that my dad followed to repair my basin.
How to Repair Broken Wash Basin?
Clean the sink: By using a sponge, water, and cleanser to scrub away any debris or residue. Then, let it air dry.
Sand the Damaged Area: Use 400–600 grit sandpaper to lightly sand the chipped area, roughening the edges to improve patch adherence.
Apply Repair Compound: Layers of filler should be applied with a little brush until the chip or gouge is filled. Before moving on, let every application dry completely. Between applications, lightly sand the repaired area to level the filled-in repair with the surrounding surface.
Option: If desired, use an epoxy repair kit that matches in colour.
Apply Touch-up Paint: Use porcelain touch-up paint over the repaired area. For a watertight, sealed finish, adhere to the application and drying instructions.
This is all about how to fix broken ceramic wash basin. You too can follow these steps. However, if you are unsure about handling the task, you can opt for sink replacement.
