We were working on a wall and accidentally hit the plumbing line. This created a hole and water started leaking out heavily. We used the push to connect slip coupling to repair the pipe. So, I would be able to help you with how to fix drilled water pipe. Before I share the process, if you don’t have an idea about plumbing, please call a plumber, as this is a complex process.

How to Fix a Drilled Water Pipe?

Here is the method you can follow to fix a drilled water pipe:

  1. As soon as you realise that the drill has hit your plumbing line, the first thing to do is to turn off the main water supply line. We usually panic and start stopping the water instead of turning it off.

  2. If you were drilling into your wall and didn’t realise there was plumbing behind it, you need to reach the leak in the wall by removing the portion of the drywall.

  3. Use a drywall saw to cut out the pieces of the wall to see the pipe. If you can fix it with a push to connect the fitting, you only need to access a small area. But, if you need to replace the whole pipe, you’d need more space.

  4. If the pipes are of CPVC or copper, use a push to connect slip coupling or repair coupling to fix the damaged area.

  5. Get the right size of slip coupling based on the pipe size. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

  6. Remove the small section of the pipe that is damaged with a tube cutter, ensure to cut it square. With a deburring tool, deburr the pipe if it is of copper and clean the tube’s ends.

  7. Measure and mark the insertion depth based on the specifications of the push-to-connect fitting you’re using.

  8. The slip end goes onto the pipe first. Push it onto the pipe till it stops to slide. Disengage it and slide it back toward the other cut side of the pipe. Move it until it reaches the depth marked on the pipe.

  9. Turn the water back on and ensure there is no leakage.

This is all about how to fix a drilled water pipe. I hope it helps.
