Sanding 

The ceiling area should be sanded to take care of any edges or ridges. Take a wet cloth and wipe it across the ceiling to take away the dust and any debris.

Applying Primer 

I learnt it is better to use an oil based primer which has the ability to block stains. The primer will not allow mould to spread and excess water will not make its way to the ceiling.

Repainting the Ceiling

   To apply the paint, use a roller with a thick nap. Start by rolling the paint in a pattern until the entire area is covered. Allow the paint to dry completely before applying a second coat.
