I bought a new aesthetic mirror but didn’t know how to fix a mirror to the wall securely. But luckily my sister came to my rescue. Mounting a mirror can transform a room, making it feel more spacious and light-filled. The process is relatively straightforward, but the key is ensuring you use the right hardware for your wall type and mirror size. This is how my sister taught me to fix a mirror on the wall safely and securely.
How to Fix a Wall Mirror?
The first step in how to fix mirror in wall is to determine the material of your wall—drywall, plaster, or masonry—since the type of wall will dictate the hardware you need.
As mine was a drywall, I used wood screws and wall anchors, while masonry walls require special masonry bits and anchors designed for concrete, brick, or tile.
Next, measure where the mirror’s hardware (D-rings or picture wire) lines up with the wall. If you're using picture wire, pull the wire taut and measure the distance from the top of the wire to the frame. For mirrors with D-rings, measure the distance between the rings and from the top of the frame.
Drill holes in the wall at the marked points, ensuring they align with studs if possible. If there are no studs, use appropriate wall anchors or toggle bolts to ensure the hooks stay secure. Then, attach the hooks to the wall and hang the mirror by aligning the D-rings or wire with the hooks. I suggest you ask someone to help lift the mirror.
Finally, check that the mirror is level, adjust if needed, and secure rubber bumpers on the back corners to prevent tilting.
Hope this helps!
