Hello. In order to get a glass-like finish, you need to sand the wood, clean it, spread epoxy over it and add polish. The process is elaborate, so you can refer to the detailed process I’ve mentioned below. With this, you will be able to learn how to get a glass like finish on painted wood. So, follow along for all the information.

How to Get Glass Finish on Wood?

Below, you will find the complete process to gain a glass-like finish on a wooden surface.

  1. The first and foremost thing you should do is sand the wood. This is a major step in this method. So, start with a 120-grit sandpaper and move your way up till a 1000-grit sandpaper to sand the entire wooden surface.

  2. You now need to clean the surface of the wood, so that no dust particles remain on the wooden surface. Avoid scratches on the surface, as you won’t be able to get rid of them later on in the process.

  3. Keep the wood on another scrap piece of wood. Then, place a plastic back under the wood to avoid over spill from glueing anything which is unnecessary. Mix the epoxy in a cup, and do not add any bubbles to it.

  4. This is a tricky part. Find the right height to pour the epoxy over the wooden surface, such that it is not too high that you accidentally add bubbles, or not too low that you touch the wood. With a paint brush, spread the epoxy across all the corners and down, towards the sides. Leave it as it is for 20 minutes. Once 20 minutes are completed, use a blowtorch and pop any existing bubbles. Make sure you do not stand at one spot for too long. After you’re done, leave it to set for a day.

  5. If you wish to have a shinier wood, you can repeat the above process by first sanding the surface with the highest grit sandpaper, and then moving ahead with the epoxy.

  6. Lastly, take plastic polish and rag to wipe the polish over the surface of the wood. Then, take a clean cloth and clean the surface well.

That's how you can get a glass like paint finish on wood. Have a good day:)
