How to get current address proof?

With Aadhaar, changing your address is quite simple (and convenient), and you can keep track of it for all other needs. Go to

  to complete it online.

You must upload a scanned copy of your address proof to the process in order to receive your new E-Aadhaar with the new address in a day or two.

UIDAI recognises the following 4 documents as legitimate address proof among the other available documents (

myAadhaar

) for address proof.

  • Service or government photo identification cards issued by PSU

  • Signed letter with a photo on letterhead issued by a company with a business licence

  • Registered Lease, Rent, or Sale Agreement

  • A Department of Posts-issued Address Card with a Photo

Shifted to new house how to get address proof?

Initially, I used to submit a photocopy of my rent agreement as proof. My landlord recommended that I use the contract to change my address on all online portals. 

I used a rental agreement because it had my name, new house address, name of the landlord, phone number etc. 

There is a long list of documents that are accepted as address proof. These documents have been approved by the government of India. These are :

  • Passport

  • Arms Licence

  • Driving Licence

  • Election Commission ID Card Ration Card with address 

  • CGHS/ECHS Card

  • Certificate of address having Photo issued by MP/MLA/Group-A Gazetted Officer in letterhead

  • Certificate of address with a photo from Govt. recognized educational institutions (for students only)

  • Certificate of address issued by Village Panchayat head or its equivalent authority (for rural areas)

  • Water Bill (not older than the last three months)

  • Telephone Bill of Fixed line (not older than last three months)

  • Electricity Bill (not older than the last three months)

  • Income Tax Assessment Order Vehicle Registration Certificate Registered Sale/Lease Agreement

  • Address card with photo issued by Deptt. Of Posts, Govt. of India

  • Current Passbook of Post Office/any Schedule Bankx

  • Photo Identity Card having address (of Central Govt./PSU or State Govt./PSU only)

  • Credit Card Statement (not older than the last three months)

  • Cast and Domicile Certificate with address and photo issued by State Govt. like Assam and other states Pensioner’s Card with address

  • Freedom Fighter Card with address

  • Kissan Passbook with address

  • Aadhaar Card/e-Aadhaar letter downloaded from UIDAI website
