Let’s read about several types of cooking gas and how to get gas connection for rented house: There are 2 types of cooking gas available in India: LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) PNG (Piped Natural Gas) The former is supplied through gas cylinders while the latter is supplied directly to your house through pipes. If you want to apply for a new LPG gas connection, then you will be required to pick between applying to private sector LPG suppliers or public sector LPG suppliers. From the public sector, you’ll get a fixed no. of cylinders at a subsidized rate from Bharat Gas, HP Gas, and Indane. For this, you will need a ration card. My sister recently shifted to Chennai. The first thing that she did after relocating to Chennai was apply for a new gas connection for her rented house. I wasn't sure about the process, so I asked her how to get gas connection for rented house in Chennai.

How to Get Gas Connected to My House in Chennai?

My sister highlighted to me the steps that she obtained to get a new gas connection at her rented place;

  • She visited the official LPG website of

    My LPG.in

  • After this, she clicked on the “Forms” option

  • Followed by clicking on the “New Connection / KYC Form” option

  • This landed her on this

    Know Your Customer(KYC) Form 

  • She had to fill out the form and submit it to the nearest distributor with a photograph and ID proof. 

  • Pay the cost of the new connection

This helped her in getting a new gas connection at her place. 

How much to get gas connected to my house?

The non-subsidised price per 14.2 kg cylinder in Chennai is Rs. 918.

After much consultation, I decided to apply for a new connection to Indane Gas. So let me help you out with how to get gas connection for rented house in Bangalore. 

How can one apply for a gas connection for a rented house?

You can contact any of the private LPG providers to get a new gas connection. You will be required to pay a fee of about Rs 3,000 (approximately), but you do not need to provide any documents as such. But if you want to get gas connection from Indane, HP, Bharat gas or more, you will need to furnish some documents like

  • Rent agreement

  • Aadhar number

  • ID proof like ration cards and more

  • Click on New Connection.

  • Login or select Register Now

  • Provide all details like name, number, email and more

  • Enter the OTP you received on your number and your application will be done
