Our hallway is well-lit but my children found it scary and every night they used to call me whenever they needed to cross the hallway. I felt as if we were living in a haunted house; hence, I surfed the internet to get some hallway lighting ideas. I really did not want to spend a huge sum of money for it and was happy to know some great budget-friendly ideas. Let me share a few methods on how to get light into a dark hallway.

How to Light Up a Dark Jallway?

To light up a dark hallway, you can:

  • Install stylish pendant lights at regular intervals along the hallway ceiling. They come in various designs and materials to match your decor.

  • Add wall sconces to illuminate the walls and create a warm ambiance. Choose fixtures with shades that complement your hallway's style.

  • Install recessed lights for a sleek and modern look. They provide even illumination and can be dimmed for versatility.

  • Use track lighting to allow direct light where needed. Use adjustable fixtures to highlight artwork or architectural features.

But if you want to know how to get natural light into a dark hallway, I can share some tips on it as well. To get natural light in your dark space, you can:

  • Add a skylight to the hallway's ceiling to bring in direct sunlight.

  • Replace solid doors with glass doors or panels to allow light from adjacent rooms to filter in.

  • Hang mirrors strategically to reflect light from nearby windows or doors into the hallway.

  • Add transom windows above doors to let light flow from room to room.

  • Use light, reflective paint colours on walls and ceilings to bounce natural light.

So choose what method you want to implement as per your requirements. Just know that these hallway lighting ideas were really helpful for me and I am sure you will be happy with the result as well.
