MMID is a seven-digit number, where the first four digits are unique identification numbers representing the bank providing the IMPS service. Basically, it’s a unique number synced with your account.
So when you receive money via IMPS transaction, this MMID number helps in the identification of your account for crediting the amount. If you have multiple accounts, the mobile number for each account is the same but MMID number for each account is different. So MMID number is essential for receiving money in a specific account.
