I remember once at my mom’s place there was a rat attack and when I say “a rat attack” I mean a serious one. It so happened that my mom lived in a commercial cum residential area and there was a sweets shop that opened next to her place. This was a treat to those little creatures and all of the neighbourhood faced the consequences. But my mom was adamant to find a solution so she called me up and asked how to get rid of rats without poison Punam?
I am no expert but I had a couple of ideas on top of my head so I am going to share the same with you. Read carefully.
Get rid of rats without killing themMy mom was paranoid so I told her the following methods:
The obvious one first, get a rat trap. Hang a bait in the rat trap (I would use a slice of an onion) and let the rat walk into the trap. Once there, the trap doors will close and you can simply take it out and let it go far away from your house in an open field or park.
Once you have the rat out, seal all the possible openings for them to enter into your territory again. It is possible that they can enter through doors, windows or openings in the pipeline to your house so please be careful.
If you are suspicious of their presence in your house again you can go for DIY methods to shoo them away. You can use peppermint oil, cayenne pepper, black pepper, cloves, etc. and spray the mixture in your house generously. This will act as repellent and help you get rid of them.
Another way is to call for help and get pest control done at your home. You will have a long term solution and all the efforts will be worth it.
These are a few methods that come to my mind on how to get rid of rats without poison.
