How to get solar subsidy?

Solar power has the least negative impact on the environment and it is also a cost-effective resource. India is located near the equator and so it has a high potential to produce electricity through solar energy. It can reduce the cost of electricity for both the Government and people residing in India. But very few have taken the initiative to install solar power since we as Indians are more accustomed to using electricity that comes from coal. But coal is a resource that tends to damage the environment and it is becoming obsolete day by day. And due to the large population, it will be very hard to depend on coal to produce electricity. So, the government is giving solar subsidy to people for installing solar panels in house. I am staying in Maharashtra, so I will share with you the central government solar subsidy in Maharashtra.

The solar projects subsidy is managed by MEDA in Maharashtra. If you want to install solar power, you need to submit important documents to MEDA online. The developer submits the documents on behalf of the customer. 

The Government pays 40% of the benchmark installation cost in Maharashtra for residential sectors. 

To get the subsidy, you need to install important reports such as system details, manufacturer of solar panel and inverter details to your electricity department.

You can submit the application for solar connection both online and offline. You can contact DISCOM company such as:

• Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport (BEST)

• BSES (Reliance Energy Ltd.)

• Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd

To get the subsidy you need to book an engineer visit first. And after that, you need to buy and install the solar system. You need to apply for net metering. You will get your subsidy after 30 days of installing the solar power on the rooftop.
