I recently came to know about the "Zero Power Bill" programme in Delhi and the "Gruha Jyothi" scheme in Karnataka. These schemes provide subsidy amount in electricity bill and are two of the most popular power subsidy programmes. I am a resident of Karnataka and I applied for the Gruha Jyothi scheme, so I can tell you about it in more detail. 

The government of Karnataka launched the Gruha Jyothi initiative to give its citizens free power up to 200 units. During the process of application, I learned that an Aadhaar card, a current power bill, a consumer ID, and a mobile number are required for the registration process, which is carried out through the Seva Sindhu portal or licenced locations. • First, you need to go to the

  Seva Sindhu homepage

  , and under "Apply for Service," you will have to enter your email address or mobile number, an OTP, and a password.

• After entering all necessary information, you will have to click on "Submit."

• Then an Application Reference Number will be sent to you, which you can use for future correspondence.

• After that, return to the portal and select the "Check Your Application Status" page, then input your Application Reference Number.

• Your Gruha Jyothi application data and status will appear.

I reside in Delhi and I can give you an idea about how to get subsidy on electricity bill for residential properties. 

Ever since the Aam Aadmi Party came into power and announced subsidized rates on electricity, many of my relatives who live in other parts of the country have been rattled. They all wanted to know how it works and did I even get the subsidy on the electricity bill. 

Of course, I have had my share of few chances to get subsidies on electricity bills but there is a catch to it. The government has not simply made it a policy that anybody and everybody can get a subsidy on their electricity bill. There are certain rules that come into play. You can avail electricity subsidy when:

• Your consumption of electricity is within 200 units during the billing period

• You can get a subsidy of Rs 800 for consuming 201 to 400 units in a month

• A 100% subsidy to the victims of 1984 riots is given for power consumption up to 400 units.

• The fixed charge for agricultural connection of Rs. 120 kWh is reduced to Rs 20 per kWh.

• Apart from this, the central government, in an effort to promote renewable energy announced that if you install solar rooftop panels up to 3KW, 40% subsidy by the government will be given 

• If you install 10KW then a 20% subsidy will be given from the government.
