I recently got mine done! Considering that this was the first time I was to experience this, honestly, I was a little sceptical in the beginning - thinking about how tedious the whole process would be. But, I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it actually is. The process of name change on the property tax bill is very simple given that you have all the necessary details and documents of the property with you before heading for a name change. I even got to know how important it is for both owners and buyers to update the official records of the local municipal corporation. Ignoring or delaying this would mean that all the receipts will be generated in the name of the previous owner/buyer and they have to bear the brunt of these dues.

To begin with, you will need to submit the following documents to the Commissioner of the Revenue along with an application form requesting name change:

1.Last paid tax receipt, 2.NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the housing society 3.Attested copy of the sales deed (which has your name) and 4.A correctly filled application form with your signature.

Once your application is verified, the name change approval usually takes 15 to 30 days.

In case of the death of the property owner, you will require to submit an affidavit and the original Death Certificate.
