Grouting is an essential procedure to fill the holes or cracks in your concrete. We had visible cracks in our bathroom tiles, so we had called a plumber to repair it efficiently. But you can do it by yourself if you have the required materials and take a few precautions. Based on what I have observed our plumber do, I can share with you how to grout concrete in brief.
How to Grout Cement Tile?
Our plumber said that grouting cement tiles is not tough, but there are things you should consider when you do the procedure.
First, he said you should be careful about the width of the joint. The width should be greater than 1/16”.
You should also use a non-sanded grout, which is easier to insert.
He also used a grout release, which he said, is essential to ensure that there’s no staining and filming of your tiles, and this makes the cleanup faster.
Then, you need to choose a grout colour which will match the colour of your tiles. He used a natural grey-colour grout which can blend in with most colours. He also said that you should not use very contrasting or dark colours as they can stain the cement tiles.
Then you need to inject a mixture of cement, water, and some sand into the gaps. This will harden over time, and become a solid mass, which will give support to the tiles.
After you finish grouting, you may ask how to get grout off concrete floor. For that, you can use a utility knife to scrape off the loose, remaining grout or debris off the floor.
So, these are some techniques he told us while grouting our cement tiles. I hope this gives you some idea on how to grout concrete.
