One of the walls in my living room had become bad, and there was no way to paint it. Since I wasn’t aware of what to do, I called my cousin, who is an interior designer and asked how to hide bad walls without paint. She told me that there are multiple ways of covering a bad wall and following that provided me with a few ideas.

How to Cover An Ugly Wall Without Painting?

I have added the ideas suggested by my cousin below.

Adding a Wallart

Wall Art can be used in areas with an excessive number of holes or damage. He told me that I could hire an artist to add some form of art, such as painting, POP, etc, to hide the damage.

Using Tiles

Another option mentioned by her was covering the damage by using tiles. She said there are a variety of tiles that come in different designs and textures. These can enhance the look of the walls while covering cracks, holes, fire damage, etc.

Using Murals

The last thing she told me about was using murals. She said murals are a great alternative to paintings, which are quite expensive. These are cheaper and easier to maintain.

This is what she told me when I asked her how to cover ugly walls without paint. I hope this helps.

Of course, I had no choice to get the repair work done and repaint the wall. So I did the next best thing I knew. I covered them up. Look at some cheap wall covering ideas for bad walls and save yourself money and embarrassment.

  • Pull down the curtains: The first thing I did was to buy a few good looking curtains and a string to hang them. I didn’t bother to spend on curtain rods because what else can you do when you’re on a budget.

  • Sticking wallpaper: Next, I bought a good patterned wallpaper to cover up the bad area and mould on the wall. The curtains covered the walls up but with wind and air, they flew around exposing the bad wall.

  • Mirror mirror on the wall: There was one particular patch which was extremely bad and it almost looked like a hole in the wall so I bought a mirror for Rs. 50 from the local market and hung it at that area.

These are the best cheap ways to cover walls in my opinion. You won’t end up spending more than Rs. 500 (at least I didn’t).

I live in a PG and before I rented it the walls were already damaged. The owner informed me that a guy used to play cricket in his room and thus there were two or three holes in the wall. I requested him to fix it but he never did so I thought I could do some DIY to decorate my room. I love doing artwork and crafts in my free time so I thought it was a good opportunity to explore my creativity. I will share with you 3 cost-effective ideas to cover damaged walls. All the methods I will discuss are easy to do and they won't cost you a single penny.

3 cheap ways to cover walls

Wallpaper

Do you have holes in your wall? Well, you don't need cement, paint, or plaster to cover it for a while. You can just use wallpaper and decorate your room. Just print your favorite design and paste it on the wall. You do not have to pay anything and you can save money by applying this hack. I have printed the "Om" symbol and pasted it in one of the holes to avoid negativity.

Photoframe

You can also use a photo frame and hang it to hide a damaged wall. It is one of the clever ideas to cover walls without paint. No one will have any idea that your wall is damaged.

Use Curtains

If you have two or three holes in one wall you can use the sheet of curtain to cover the damage. It is the best cost-effective way on how to hide bad walls without paint. I personally like floral patterns so I hung up a floral printed curtain. People usually trick themselves into thinking there is a window behind the curtain but there is nothing but a damaged wall! ;)

Well even though these are some temporary solutions it is better to fix your wall immediately. In the meantime, you can try some of my hacks!

I hope you could fix your wall with these 3 ideas to cover damaged walls.
