How to Install a Door Knob with Lock?

A faulty door knob could be quite bothersome especially when you are planning to go out. I replaced the front door knob because it was giving me a lot of trouble. For this, one should know how to install a door knob lock. So, how do you do that? 

Installing a door knob might seem challenging, but it's not. But I would suggest you do it only when you are sure of your DIY skills. Below are some steps I followed to change the door knob of my house. 

How To Install A New Door Knob With Lock?

Before you get to Install a new door knob, you need a flat-head screwdriver, a star-head screwdriver, and a hammer. 

Removing The Old Door Knob

• Locate the screws and start removing them one after the other using the flat-head screwdriver. 

• Once those screws are removed, you should be able to remove the exterior doorknob. 

• Following that, use the star-head screwdriver to unscrew the inner screws. 

• Now, slowly pull out the lock. Use the hammer if it seems that the lock is stuck inside. 

That should remove the lock, and now you can install the new lock. So, how to install door handle lock?

• Install the new latch plate on the inside edge of the door. Use the the provided screws to secure it. 

• Now, put the long spindle through the latch you just installed and use the screws provided to secure it. 

• Attach the knob to the door by sliding it over the small spindle and use an Allen wrench to tighten it and complete the process of how to fit a door handle with lock.

How To Install A Door Knob With Lock

Step 1:Gather Your Tools

Make sure you have a door knob kit, a screwdriver, a tape measure, a pencil, and a hole saw before you start.

Step 2:Measure and Mark

Start by determining the door knob's proper height. This is typically 36 inches or so from the bottom of the door. With a pencil, lightly mark the location.

Step 3: Make Holes

Drill a hole in the door at the designated location using a hole saw. Verify that the hole size is in accordance with the requirements of your door knob kit.

Step 4: Screw the Knob in.

From the outside of the door, insert the outer knob into the hole. Attach the inner knob to the internal side while lining up the spindle. Using the kit's included screws, fasten both knobs.

Step 5: Install the Latch 

Position the curved side of the latch assembly so it faces the direction you want the door to close. It is fastened with screws.

Step 6: Evaluate and correct

Check the door knob's operation. Make that the lock works properly and the latch engages smoothly.
