Hello, I saw you wanted to know how to fit a mixer tap and I can help you with the process. We recently got a mixer tap installed in our kitchen. So, I can show you the entire steps involving its installation.
How to Change a Kitchen Mixer Tap?
First, turn off the water supply and see that if you are replacing a tap, then the new tap should fit into the hole which is in your sink or worktop.
Remove the old tap by first unscrewing the two flexi tails and marking the hot water hose. Then, unscrew the tightening seal under the tap. Then, take off the tap.
With the help of the tap body, look for the centremost point on the worktop. Then, pre-drill a hole which measures 4 to 6 mm in diameter.
Drill a circular hole to match the new mixer tap’s exact dimensions. Sand down the edges of the hole you've created using fine grit sandpaper.
Next, screw the two flexi tails into the tap body with your hand. For safety, give an extra quarter turn with a pair of pliers.
Insert the threaded rod into the tap with the help of a flathead screwdriver and tighten it.
Clean the place where the mixer tap will be installed. Degrease it too. Insert the tap while making sure that the flexi tails don’t bend.
Beneath the sink, position both the tightening seal and the washers. Screw everything well thereafter.
Before you tighten, make sure that the tap faces the correct direction. Connect the tap by screwing the flexi tails to your water supply pipes. Connect the hot and cold water lines to the appropriate pipes.
Turn on the water supply and test the hot and cold water. If there is no leakage and the temperature of the water can be changed by moving the lever, then the tap has been installed correctly.
This is how to fit a mixer tap. I hope this helps.
