Toilet installation is a herculean task, but it’s doable with slight precaution and careful handling. You just need a few tools and consider some safety measures, after which you’re ready. We replaced our old toilet with the help of a professional plumber, but from what I have observed

I can guide you through the process in brief.

How Do I Install a Toilet?

Although I would recommend you getting a professional to do the job, let me still give you a brief idea on how to install a toilet.

  • First, you need to remove the existing toilet. Before you do so, make sure you disconnect the water supply first. Then, you can remove the tank and bowl.

  • Once you unscrew the nuts and remove the toilet, look at the area around the drain opening for any signs of leaks. If so, you need to repair them. Luckily, there was no water damage in our case, so the plumber proceeded to install the closet flange.

  • Then, you need to install the new toilet bowl. For this process, you must place the wax ring, position it correctly, and then secure the bowl to the floor. This is a tricky process, as you have to be extremely careful while positioning and securing the bowl.

  • After you secure the bowl, you can attach the toilet tank and its components.

  • Once everything is set, connect the water supply, and test for proper functioning. This is to ensure there are no potential water leaks. We did not find any leaks, but the plumber mentioned that in case of leaks; you need to tighten the connections or reseat the toilet.

  • Finally, you install the toilet seat and caulk around the toilet’s base for a polished look and extra stability.

So, this is how the plumber did the toilet installation for us. I hope it helps you.

How Much Does it Cost to Have a Toilet Installed?

A couple of months ago, we decided to change our Indian toilet to a Western one. We decided to call a plumber from NoBroker. We have had a good experience with NoBroker services earlier so we decided to stick to them. I was there with the professional throughout their working day so I can share a brief about how do you install a toilet.

What is the Toilet Installation Process?

The most important thing you need to do before installing a toilet is to clear the installation area and level it. Once this is done, you can proceed. Here are the steps on how to install a toilet

  1. Once the cleaning is done, check the proper drainage connections and toilet flange. In case of any cracks or damage, replace it with a new one.

  2. Set a wax ring on the flange to create a seal between the toilet and the drain.

  3. Place closet bolts into the flange slots, ensuring they are parallel and secure.

  4. Carefully lower the toilet onto the wax ring, aligning the bolts with the mounting holes.

  5. Tighten nuts onto the bolts to secure the toilet, but avoid over-tightening to prevent damage.

  6. Attach the water supply line to the toilet tank, ensuring a snug connection.

  7. Turn on the water supply and check for any leaks. Adjust as needed.

  8. Attach the toilet seat according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  9. Flush the toilet to ensure proper functionality and check for any issues.

  10. Apply caulk around the base to create a watertight seal.

So this is how toilet installation is done. The process is time consuming and requires a lot of tools so make sure you have those in case you want to do it yourself.
