Hi there,

I am a big fan of DIY projects and one of the best DIY projects I have ever taken up for my home is installing a board and batten wall. I believe that a board and batten wall is one of the most cost-effective methods to transform any area. Trim work, in general, provides visual appeal and character to a space in a way that few other design elements can. It's no surprise, then, that wall panelling or wainscoting has been a popular home design trend in recent years.

I eventually took the jump and installed the panelling in my doorway after pondering about putting DIY board and batten exterior siding in my own home for over a year and reading up on how to DIY a board and batten wall.

Leave the task of installing a board and batten wall in the expert hands of professional Interior Designers and NoBroker at the best prices ever. How to install board and batten wall?
  1. Measure the width of the wall: Measure your walls before going to the hardware store so you know how much trim to buy for your feature wall. Both the board and the batten are required.

  2. Measure the length of batten: The batten, or vertical trim piece, is the next measurement you'll need for your wall panelling DIY.

  3. Buy your required trim: Go to the hardware store with your measurements in hand.

  4. Add up the top and bottom pieces: Use a mitre saw to cut the ends of the trim pieces to a 45-degree angle so they fit together beautifully at the corners if you're creating a complete room's worth of wall door.

  5. Add the batten pieces: It's time to cut the vertical pieces when the top and bottom trim is in place. To determine the length of your pieces, measure the distance between the top and bottom pieces of trim.

  6. Fill the nail holes between sand and trim: Go back and patch in any nail holes or gaps between your wood pieces. Seal cracks with painter's caulk with a caulk gun, cleaning away excess caulk with a paper towel or cloth.

  7. Use prime and then paint: If you're going to use bare wood like I did, you'll need to prime it first. You can skip this step and go directly to painting if you're using pre-primed MDF. You're done once you've painted your wall.

I hope I was able to explain to you the process of installing the board and batten wall.
