How to install a carpet on a wooden floor?Here are the steps that you need to follow to install a carpet on your floor-
Prepare the floor-Your first step should be cleaning. Before you start installing a carpet, make sure that the floor is clean and levelled. Check whether there is any loose boards or repairs need to be done. Vacuum the floor completely and remove all the dirt and debris.
Choose the carpet-Next step should be selecting a carpet. Select the carpet as per your requirement. Make sure it is comfortable and durable. Also, I would recommend going for stain-resistant carpets that are meant to bear high traffic as well.
Lay the padding-Place a layer of foam padding over the wooden floor for extra safety. The padding should extend beyond the edges of the room and should be cut so that it fits exactly in the room.
Cut the carpet-Place the carpet over the padding and cut it as needed to fit the room. Make sure that the carpet is centred and pulled tight.
Secure the carpet-You will also need to secure the well so that it remains on the floor without getting rolled or piled up. For it, use a carpet stretcher to stretch the carpet over the edges of the room and secure it with carpet tacks.
Trim the edges-Trim the edges of the carpet with a carpet knife and use a stair tool to tuck the edges into the corners of the room.
For extra safety and durability, you can place a carpet pad over the carpet and get extra cushioning and insulation.
