After I heard about a thief roaming around in our locality, I decided to install a CCTV camera for extra safety. I wasn’t aware of CCTV how to install so I hired an expert. He followed a series of steps for installing the camera and I understood how tedious it was. I was present with him all the time so I can share a brief overview of the installation process here.

How to Fit CCTV at Home?

To fit a CCTV camera, you will need some items like brackets, screws, cables, and others. Usually these are provided with the CCTV package, and if not, you will need to buy them. Here is what you need to do next:

  1. Identify key areas to monitor and choose camera locations with the utmost visibility.

  2. Start installing cameras using brackets and screws, ensuring a stable position.

  3. Then connect cameras to a power source, either through outlets or Power over Ethernet (PoE) cables.

  4. You will also need to connect the DVR/NVR to cameras, power, and a monitor.

  5. Next, conceal and secure cables to prevent damage and maintain a neat appearance.

  6. Enable remote monitoring by connecting the DVR/NVR to the internet via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.

  7. These are the main steps on how to install home security cameras. Once these are done, set up motion detection, recording schedules, and camera resolution through the device's interface.

  8. Ensure all cameras are functioning correctly and adjust angles if needed.

  9. Set strong passwords, update firmware regularly, and implement other security measures to protect your system.

This is the basic process on how to fix CCTV camera at home. You can follow the steps as described in the manual of your CCTV package as well or hire an expert.

With modern technologies we can do anything with our mobile in the hand. One of the most important gadgets we must have in our house is a CCTV camera. To ensure that your house is safe from dacoits it is better to install a CCTV camera in the house. It is essential for the safety of the children at the same time you can also track down who is coming to your house. Since installing CCTV is important we should also know how to install CCTV camera at home.

How to install CCTV at home?

At first it is important to check where you want to install the CCTV camera. Not only in the front but you should place the CCTV camera in the corner to check who is coming to your house. It is important to choose a higher spot covering the door, window approaches and garages. Camera should be above 10ft so that it cannot be knocked down easily.

Camera Mounting

First you should mark the place for drilling to install a camera. You should select a place from where the camera can capture every minute detail. Start drilling holes in the place and hammer in the screw mouldings. Now take the camera with you and screw it carefully. Now you have to insert the power cable of the camera in a socket.

DVR

DVR or surveillance hard disk of the CCTV helps in recording all the moments. Therefore it is highly recommended to purchase a DVR along with CCTV. You must put the DVR inside the locker so that even if the intruder tries to ruin the recordings it will be protected. Try installing a good quality locker for this one.

Cable Management

To learn how to set up CCTV at home you should plan how to put your cables without it getting tangled or damaged. Therefore we can use wire moldings to keep the wire safe. The moldings should be nailed along the path to connect it with other systems.

Wire Connection

Now, you need to connect the video cable with the BNC port. 1.5 cm outer covering of the video cable should be removed which will expose the braids. You should slide the barrel onto the cable with the wider diameter faced on the other side of the cable. You have to insert the cables that are exposed into the BNC port and screw the crimping barrel. This will make the connection safe to use.

After this your CCTV camera will be ready to set up.

Before installing a CCTV in your house I would suggest you call a technician. He will know how to connect the wires and install the CCTV. It is better not to play with these things for the sake of one's own safety.
