How to install exhaust fan in bathroom window ?

An exhaust fan helps get rid of bad odour from bathroom and also helps in eradicating dampness to some extent. My mother suggested that I get bathroom window with exhaust fan. I called an electrician to get it installed. He followed a series of steps starting with selecting the correct size so that it fit perfectly into the window. Since we have a glass window in our bathroom, I can share how to install exhaust fan in glass window like a professional.

How To Fix Exhaust Fan In Glass Window?

You can fix an exhaust fan in the window by following these steps:

• Choose the glass window in which you want to install the fan and then select the size of the exhaust fan compatible with the window

• Next, switch off your main power connection

• Remove the window sash and clean the glass surface where you are planning to attach the fan

• Install the mounting bracket on the cleaned glass using the anchors or adhesive. The instructions are clearly mentioned by the manufacturer.

• Connect the fan wiring to the power supply and secure it with nuts and electrical tape

• Attach the fan to the mounting bracket

• Reinstall the window sash

• Restore power, switch on the exhaust fan and check whether it is working or not

So this is how to install exhaust fan in window. It's better if you hire an electrician for this task. The connections need to be done properly so don’t take the risk unless you are very sure. Ever since we have installed exhaust fan in our bathroom there is a significant reduction in dampness.It doesn’t suffocate me anymore.

There is nothing more annoying than a damp washroom. For me it results in muddy footprints all over my house. To keep my house pristine, I decided to tackle the problem at its origin. I searched how to install exhaust fan in bathroom window. I followed the process despite being an amateur. 

Before I share with you how to install exhaust fan in bathroom glass window? Let me share the list of tools I used. 

Equipment / Tools :

• Ladder ( if needed)

• Safety glasses

• Dust mask or respirator

• Reciprocating saw

• Cordless drill

• 1/2-inch drill bit

• Pencil

• screwdriver

• Screws and pins

• I made sure power was turned off at the circuit breaker.

• Since there was a big enough gap in the wall, I didn't have to cut a larger hole.

• Then, I removed the electrical junction box inside the fan housing. 

• I unscrewed the electrical clamp locking ring.

• I screwed a new mounting frame and fasted them with 1.5-inch construction screws.

• Then, I put the exhaust fan in the gap/ frame 

• I connected all the wiring with an aluminium foil HVAC UL-listed tap.

• I connected the hot (black) and neutral (white) wires to the corresponding wires 

• I secured the cover of the fan with screws 

• Finally, I filled any drywall caps with caulking. 

• I switched on the power from the circuit breaker. My fan was working perfectly.
