Hi Buddy,

I closely operate with a well-renowned builder in Bangalore. I have closely witnessed them install stamped concrete in the basement of various projects. Hence, I would like to share my experience about how to install stamped concrete. Many people associate concrete with a monotonous and quite unappealing expanse of rough, grey pavement.

However, concrete truly has a broad aesthetic range, one that appears to be growing daily. Stamped concrete is one of the newest and most fascinating decorative concrete processes. Using this method, a builder can precisely imitate the appearance of natural pavement materials like slate and stone.

What is the process of stamped concrete installation:

  • Prepping and Pouring

Like regular concrete, stamped concrete surfaces also have a beginning. The location needs to be thoroughly dug first. The ground needs to be levelled properly to provide a level surface. Additionally, it must be compacted because loose dirt is far more prone to sink and shift, which could result in cracks forming on the surface of the concrete.

Wooden forms are built around the perimeter once the paving surface has been smoothed and compacted. These serve to contain the wet concrete, and they need to be strong enough to withstand its substantial weight. Standard concrete would be left alone at this point to harden. However, this curing process is only allowed to partially complete with stamped concrete.

  • Coloured concrete

The fact that stamped concrete can be coloured in a wide range of tones is one of its appealing qualities. It can more nearly resemble natural compounds thanks to this property. A material known as colour hardener is used to colour things. Once the concrete has sufficiently hardened to the point that no more bleed water is present on the surface, a concrete installer applies this dry powder.

Colour hardener is applied by sprinkling handfuls of the powder on the still-wet surface. Although it might seem easy enough, spreading the hardener uniformly requires a steady touch and a lot of practice.

After being evenly distributed, the hardener absorbs water for a short while, during which time the colour penetrates into the concrete.

A concrete float is then used to level up the surface. This makes it easier to make sure the colour is even throughout the entire area. A contractor has the option to repeat the procedure if necessary. Only if there are obvious spots where the colour was not distributed evenly is this necessary.

  • Usage of a Release Agent

The concrete must now be prepared for the stamping procedure after being coloured to the correct hue. By pressing particular plastic mats into the semi-hard surface and leaving behind indentations, stamping is done to create the look of natural paving. However, because the mats have a propensity to stick to the surface, the results would be untidy if one were to start stamping straight once.

To lessen the possibility of the mats getting stuck during removal, a so-called release agent is first applied. As a result, you can be confident that the sentences you write will be clear, concise, and totally compelling.

Release agents can either be a liquid that is sprayed across the surface with a specific spray wand or a powder that is dispersed across the surface similarly to how colour hardener is applied.

  • Concrete Stamping

It's finally time to start the stamping procedure. Along one border of the concrete, these plastic tiles with interlocking patterns are put. Employees stamp them down, delicately lift them up, and then reposition them in a fresh row. The installer moves across the entire surface in this fashion, leaving behind imprinted lines that are meant to resemble the contours of natural paving materials.

  • Performing the Task

After going through the process of stamped concrete installation, I would like to say that it is the work of seasoned concrete contractors. Though you would like to save

the installing stamped concrete cost. However, it is not advisable to consider it as a  DIY project. It is always better to hire professionals for this purpose.

What is the cost to install stamped concrete?

This depends on the type of concrete, and the dealer. For example, installing a cement grey stamped concrete will cost you around, Rs. 65 per sq. ft., for a granite vertical wall stamped concrete, the cost will be around Rs. 170 per sq. ft., for installing a multicoloured Indian slate pattern stamped concrete you might need to pay Rs. 54 per sq. ft.

I would like to conclude here about

how to install stamped concrete. I hope this helps:)
