Hi Om, I came across your question regarding how to clean pooja room. I use homemade cleaning solutions like lemon juice, olive oil and more to clean the room. These methods have worked well for my pooja room's flooring, door, etc. Let me show you the complete process I follow.

I will break down the cleaning process for different spaces below.

Tiles and Marble

  1. To clean the tiled flooring, you can mix baking powder and lemon juice.

  2. You can also use baking powder and dishwashing liquid diluted in warm water as an alternative. Wipe the flooring with the solution for effective cleaning.

Pooja Room Door

  1. For the door, you can dip a cotton ball in olive oil.

  2. Wipe it across the door to remove dirt and dust.

Silver Pooja Items

  1. Use a white toothbrush to scrub silver items.

  2. Use sacred ash or vibhuti to improve the shine of your silver items.

Copper Pooja Items

  1. Make a solution by mixing table salt and vinegar in equal amounts. Take a toothbrush and scrub the copper idols and utensils to clean them.

  2. Take half a lemon and sprinkle a bit of salt on it. Scrub the copper utensils and other items with the lemon. Wash with warm water afterwards and wipe with a clean cloth.

This is the process I follow. I hope it helps.

Pooja room cleaning tips:

Walls:

Clean the tiles and walls of the room with soap and water solution every other day. Wipe the painted walls/tiles with a damp cloth dipped in solution.

Idols:

You can use Vibhuti or sacred ash in pooja room cleaning. Using a paste of the product will make all the Kalash and idols shine. You will need to make a paste/scrub and rub it on the silver idol with a muslin cloth. Be careful not to rub the idols with vigour/force as they can lose their shape.

Silver Items :

You can clean the grime off silver idols/Diya by placing a spoonful of baking powder and a small piece of aluminium foil in a large pot of boiling water. The combination will work well and get rid of grime.

Counter:

Oil spills, leftover prasad, dried flowers, and agarbatti ash dirty the counter in the pooja room. To wipe away the accumulated grime, make a smooth paste of vinegar and salt. Use the paste on the counter with a cloth/brush.

Floor:

I would suggest you vacuum the woodwork regularly, and dust the intricate jali work and brass bells attached to the door.
