I thought using tiles itself is enough to give a classy look to the house but no.  In one of my friends' houses I realised that the tiles are laid somewhat in a different way and was unable to figure out how they did it. Out of curiosity I asked my friend whether the design on the tiles is different  or the laying of the tiles were different. She said that it is not a design or texture but is called an offset tile pattern. Let me share everything I got to know.

How to lay offset tile pattern?

This is a unique pattern that is also known as a running bond or common brick pattern. Each tile is laid at the centre of the tile below and is also known as the 1 2 offset tile pattern. It gives a clean and classy look to the walls or floors. Let me share another style so that you know it better.

What is 1 3 offset tile pattern 12x24 layout?

In 1 3 or 33% offset, the tile’s edgie is only offset by one-third of the width of the tile above or below it. This pattern is widely used and in my friend’s house, I witnessed this pattern only.

Why is 50% offset tile not preferred?

50% offset tile or 1 2 pattern is not much liked as it creates lippage at times as the highest point on the surface of one tile is directly beside the lowest point on another. Always remember that if they are not placed properly, they will create gaps and uneven surfaces which will not only look bad but also get dirty easily.

This is all I got to know about offset tile pattern as of now.
