Ever since my daughter saw Taare Zameen Par, she was bent on getting her own aquarium. She loved small fishes and we would take her to ponds and lakes on our off days. One day she asked “Mumma how to make aquarium at home?” I was surprised. I didn’t realize she was serious up until that moment. But I have always believed in answering all my kids' questions. So finally after much deliberation we decided to figure that out together by making one. Let me tell you what I found out.
How to make fish tank at home?My husband is well equipped with knowledge of installing filters and conditioners so I wasn’t too worried about that part.
We went to a pet store and bought a glass tank and a few things to stock the aquarium. We asked the guy for some tips and he was really helpful. This is what followed:
My husband installed a water filter and we tested it out, it worked fine. This part is important to make aquarium liveable and healthy.
He also helped us with installing lights and a small heater for temperature control
Next, we added minerals to the water which was suggested by the pet shop guy.
We were sure to not over do it. So I asked my daughter to arrange the rocks, plants and pebbles.
Next day, we went to the pet shop again and brought fishes home. We didn't want to clutter things so we just got a couple of them for the beginning.
My daughter was excited and she promised to take care of them (of course, however much she could).
So yes, this was all that we figured out about how to make aquarium at home.
