I am a self proclaimed DIY wonder woman.

Whenever there is an event or a festival around I prefer to go with homemade decorations and of course that includes pooja thali decorations. I have implemented many thali decorations ideas over the last few years. I can share them with you. But before you begin with simple thali decorations, I would recommend you to clean your thali properly. Sometimes there are black spots left on the thaali, please treat them with baking soda or toothpaste.

Let us now look at pooja thali decoration ideas which I have implemented in the past and everybody loved.

How to make decorative pooja thali at home? Butter paper and leaves

This seems an odd idea but trust me it looks really good. Since pooja thali has a diya with ghee in it there is a chance that there will be a spill. In such a case you can pick a butter paper, paint it by yourself and get leaves from a garden and arrange them in your pooja thali. Mine had small containers or katoris with rice, saffron and mishri. I left some space for the painting on butter paper to show. It added colour and an element to my pooja thali.

Go floral

This is a natural one. You can get flowers like genda and roses or any flowers of your choice. Along with it you can get banana leaves or any leaves which are bigger in size. Now spread the leaves at the bottom, arrange flowers alternatively in a circular shape on the boundary of the thali. In the inner circle, you can arrange painted diyas with the tip facing inwards.

Gota patti

If you are fond of gottas and laces, then you can decorate your pooja thali with gota patti. You will need a good adhesive or glue gun to stick the gota patti. You can make any pattern of your choice. I chose to do swastika and also pasted the gota on the edges of my pooja thali. Gota can be twisted into flower shapes as well if you like it, please go ahead with that.

I hope my thali decoration ideas come in handy for you.
