The debit card comes in handy especially when you are travelling abroad since it is hard to carry all the cash we have with us. Plus, you can't visit the bank or ATM machine whenever you want while travelling to a different country. So, how to make international payment through debit card. I will use the example of HDFC debit card, since I have my debit card under HDFC.

How to pay international payment with debit card?

To understand how to make international transaction using debit card, you need to activate your debit card first. To activate your debit card for international usage you need to first inform the bank and you must also have a sufficient balance to activate your debit card.

Check out the step by step guide below.

  • Login to HDFC Net Banking providing your password and username.

  • Tap on the Cards tab and go to the Debit Cards menu.

  • Tap on request.

  • Choose 'Set International/Domestic Usage.

  • Now, choose 'Card to be enabled for International and Domestic Use'

  • To modify the daily international usage on a debit Card first log in to Net Banking.

  • Tap on Cards and navigate to the Debit Cards menu.

  • Tap on Request.

  • Choose 'Modify International Limit'.

  • Set your daily international limit as per your convenience.
