• The first step in making your oil paint is to add pigment in the form of a pile to the glass palette.

• Next, make a small hole at the top of the pile of the pigment.

• Now, you need to add roughly 30% by volume of oil to the pigment. You can alternatively add a few drops of oil to the pigment. 

• After adding the oil, mix everything together using your palette knife.

• You can choose to add more walnut oil to the mix till you find the consistency apt according to your preference. This should ideally be a thick and creamy paste.

• The last step is to store your oil paint. You can do so by transferring it in an aluminium foil and folding it up for future use.

1) Teaspoon

2) Palette knife

3) Hollow paint tube

4) Pigment

5) Glass plates

6) Linseed oil

Process you need to follow:

1) Fill the glass slab properly with two tablespoons of pigment and a few drops of linseed oil to make it easier to mix it up.

2) Combine the various colors and linseed oil in a solid paste with the help of the palette knife.

3) Using a pattern of seven action, smash the mixture thoroughly onto the surface with the glass muller to mix up the components effectively.

4) If you put a small amount of paint on the palette knife and afterwards wipe that off, you should get a small 'peak' of pigment.

5) You should keep your handmade oil paint in an empty tube. This has the benefit of preventing air from reaching the pigment while we pump some of it out.
