• Shovel or spoon for potting soil

• Hole punch

• Paintbrushes

• Scissors

• Sandpaper (Optional)

• Used plastic bottle, washed out and dried

• Twine

• Plant

• Newspaper or kraft paper

• Potting soil

• Masking tape

• Acrylic paint

• Pebbles (Optional)

First, you have to cut the plastic bottle in half using your scissors. You can use sandpaper to file down the edges in case they are uneven or rough.

Now, decorate your bottle in any way you like using a paintbrush and your favorite color. For my planter, I use masking tape for creating a crisp half-painted look. Let your planter dry for at least 2 hours.

Make holes on each side of the planter using a hole punch. After that, take your twine and measure out slack for making a hanging planter. Double knot the ends.

Use scissors to add holes to the planter’s bottom for drainage. Now, you can add a bit of potting soil and pebbles if you like.
