I have recently learned how to create terrace garden. I believe a terrace garden at home is a great way to take advantage of the outdoors, grow your own plants, and make a tranquil outdoor haven.
How to Make a Terrace Garden at Home?
To know how to build a terraced garden, you will need the following materials:
Containers (such as pots, troughs, or raised beds)
Potting mix
Drainage material (such as gravel or perlite)
Plants
Watering can
Fertilizer (optional)
Terrace Garden How To Make?
Select the appropriate planters for your plants. Be certain that the containers have drainage holes and are big enough to fit the plants' root systems.
Put potting soil inside the containers.
Each container should have a layer of drainage material at the bottom.
Fill the containers with your plants, and give them plenty of water.
Put your containers in a bright area.
Regularly water your plants, especially in the summer when it's scorching.
Use a balanced fertiliser to fertilise your plants every few weeks (optional).
Choose plants that will flourish in the amount of sunlight that your terrace receives and that are suited to your environment.
Organise plants into groups based on how much water and sunlight they require.
Support tall or climbing plants with trellises or stakes.
Mulch around your plants to keep moisture in and weeds out.
Harvest your vegetables and herbs regularly to encourage them to produce more.
By following these tips on how to create terrace garden, you can build a flourishing terrace garden that will give you fresh vegetables and flowers for months with a little planning and attention.

Just like Geet from Jab We Met, Bachpan se hi naa … mujhe ek garden ka bahut craze hai, by god.
No kidding, I have lived most of my home life in gardens. I was obsessed with them from when I was a little kid. Growing up with my grandparents in their village I used to play with my granny in her garden which was filled with plants and trees. My favourite was that guava tree where we would set up chairs and just chill. But then I moved to Bangalore for work and things changed, my garden, my sacred place was not there. That’s when I started wondering how to make terrace garden at home, you know, just to find solace after work. I looked it up and asked around a little and finally did this.
I did not get the fake grass, please note this first. I like things all natural.
I bought a planter stand and a few potted plants. On the left side of my terrace I placed that planter and on the top shelf I placed sweet potato wine, money plant, and golden money plant.
Then I went to the front side of the terrace. I didn’t want to load it up so I bought a few flowering plants. I love mogra, raat ki raani and roses of course. Along with these I planted croton.
Now the biggest task of all came up. You must have heard about kyaaris, have you? Well it's a section of your terrace which is built specifically to grow fruits and vegetables at home. I decided to start out with tomato, brinjal and capsicum. And as things started to pan out well, I added lime, and cucumbers.
Once all the sides were covered, I moved on to the center place. It had to be my sitting area. I placed two chairs and a round center table with a centerpiece of Buddha. I have also kept a couple of bean bags in a corner just in case I have a few people over who want to hang out in my terrace garden.
While all of this was the fun part, I also had to take care of a few other things. I carefully examined the drainage system and got it unclogged. It was important for me to take care of this aspect as any lag on this front would’ve destroyed the roof.
So yeah, that is pretty much
how to build a terrace garden in my opinion. You can obviously add elements as per your liking but mine was basic and took me back to my childhood days :)
