Did you know that tiles in your workplace or home can be a safety hazard? If not treated properly, tiles can be slippery and lead to severe falls and slips. I, too, have fallen several times because of slippery tiles. Thankfully, my mother told me about various ways to make tiles slip-proof. Read below to know how to get non slippery tiles for home:

Using carpet or rugs and runners on the entire floor

Carpet the entire floor or add fabric runners or rugs to slippery tile areas. Carpets that feature rubber on the bottom will stick to your floor and reduce the accidents of serious falls and slips. Adding carpets to your floors is an easy and quick solution but does need regular cleaning, especially in heavy-trafficked areas. This is my personal favourite method on how to make tile floor less slippery.

Installing floorboards over tiles

Crafted from artificial wood strips or blocks, floorboards are an economical solution to slippery tiles. They are easy to install, require regular maintenance, and will change the floor’s look completely.

Adding foam pads to tiled areas

Foam pads can be bought in big strips or blocks and they are available in a wide range of colours. Foam pads create a barefoot-friendly and soft surface. However, you have to change them frequently, especially in heavy-trafficked areas, and that’s why they can be a costly option.

Using anti-slip coatings for tiles

There is a wide range of anti-slip products available in the market that can significantly increase traction on your tiles. For example, Stone Grip (available on Amazon) is a very effective non-slip tile treatment solution that is easy and quick to apply, with a sprayer, Stone Grip Applicator, or microfiber T-mop. Best of all, it doesn’t change the appearance of the tiles.
