Leaving the windows naked feels in a room like a piece of the puzzle is lost and incomplete. A curtain not only provides privacy and protects the room from harsh sunlight but it significantly beautifies the room. So, if you are confused about decorating your home you can just choose a colourful curtain which goes well with the colour of the wall. Now, before choosing the colour you should measure the windows to understand how much curtains you will need. This is the most important part of installing a curtain. Let me share with you

How to measure your window for curtains?

To learn

how to measure windows for curtains you will need some equipment:

  • Metal measuring tape

  • Pen and pencil (or smartphone with notes app)

  • And a friend

  1. First, decide what type of curtain you will need. There are different types of curtains such as eyelet curtains, and pleated curtains. Again pleated curtains are of two kinds that are pinch pleats and pencil pleats. You need to choose what curtain will look best in your home.

  2. Take a measuring tape and measure the width of the curtain pole.

  3. If you are going to buy ready-made curtains then buy curtains a little larger than the windows. Because the size of the window is 48 inches and the curtains are also 48 inches, the pleats can take up some space and you need to ensure that the curtains will overlap each other. So, it is always convenient to add 12 inches to the curtain while buying one.

  4. Now it's time to measure the length of the curtain. You can add a few inches to the curtains to make sure that the curtain covers the whole window.

  5. If you are thinking of a floor-length curtain take the measurement of the window and floor and avoid 0.6 inches. It's better if the curtain doesn't touch the floor. The curtain can get damaged by touching the floor.

This is the process on how to take measurements for window curtains.

I hope you like the process I have mentioned on how to measure window size for curtains.
