Hi! I was moving my household items a month ago. I had a couple of lamps to pack as well. So, let me show you how to pack floor lamps for moving.

How to Pack a Floor Lamp for Moving?

  1. First, take off the bulb and lampshades and remove the screw from the lampstand and then take off the pieces of the stand. Keep all the small items in one place. Wrap the cord around the lamp’s base and tuck the plug in.

  2. Store all the screws in a ziploc bag and have all the parts of the lamp in the same place as it will be easier to reassemble the pieces at your new place.

  3. Take a plastic tote to pack the lamp. Place the shade of the lamp in a different tote to avoid damage.

  4. In case you don’t have totes, you can use cardboard boxes. Use one for the lamp and the other for the shade. Measure the size of the lamps first and then get the boxes to find the right box size.

  5. Wrap your lamp’s base tightly with bubble wrap, moving blankets or towels. Use clean and dry hands to pack the lampshade in plastic or plain paper. Cover the shade completely

  6. Box both the lamp base and shade. While you do so, make sure there is a padding material inside the box to avoid breaking.

So, this is how do you pack a tall floor lamp for moving. I hope you find this useful.
