Begin by cleaning the panel door. You can use a mild soap and water solution to clean. Use a microfibre cloth for the same. Wipe with a clean and dry cloth to finish.
Once the door dries, sand using a 180-grit sandpaper and do so in the grain’s direction.
Remove the dust created with a cleaner and wipe over the whole surface using a damp cloth.
Use a primer and apply 1-2 coats evenly over the surface. You might need a special primer depending on the material of the door and if it is varnished.
Once you’re done priming, move on to painting. Start by painting the panels with a 4” fine roller. Do an undercoat and then two top coats for the best finish. Use minimal paint to avoid splatter and drips.
Next, paint the center vertical line between each pair of panels.
After this, paint the four horizontal rows at the top, between and end of the six panels.
Lastly, paint the outermost vertical sides of the door, running the complete height of the door.
