When we shifted to our new apartment, we bought a few second hand furniture. One of them was an antique mirror which looked classy but had a tarnished frame. I wanted to give it a modernised look, and I decided to paint it rose gold. Though I hired a professional painter for this process, I can share the step-by-step guide on how to paint a frame around a mirror. I witnessed these steps from the professional painters who painted my furniture.
How to Paint around a Mirror?
Clean the Mirror
Ensure your mirror is spotless and doesn’t have any dust particles on the surface. Then, add the liquid mask which is essential to protect the surface from paint-overspray. Put on a thick layer of mask so that you can easily remove it later.
Corner Details
Before applying paint, secure the corner details with some glue and let it dry for a while. This is to ensure that it doesn’t slip away and remains intact.
Apply Paint
Once the liquid mask is dry, spray paint the frame with your choice of colour. You don’t have to worry about getting paint on the mirror as you’ve applied a liquid mask. Let the paint dry for the next 24 hours and then, remove the liquid mask. It becomes easier to remove if the applied mask is thick.
