I always wanted to know how to paint a house interior. After doing research, I came across this six-step process which I found to be simple.It includes selecting the colour, gathering the tools, preparing the walls and so on.

1. Plan which colours to use - Deciding on colours will give you an overall vision of the house's aesthetic. If you are painting the living room you could go for neutral colours as it would work best.

2. Get the right tools - You need to invest in the right tools like Canvas, paintbrushes, a roller and a paint tray. These basic tools are enough if you do not need professional help.

3. Preparing your walls - If you want to repaint the wall then you should take out photo frames and fill up all the nail holes where you will not frame any pictures. Wipe down the walls to remove dust before painting.

4. Cover your furniture and other items with old clothes so that they would not be splattered with paint. For a sofa or a table that cannot be covered use a paint tape to mark areas which will be painted.

5. Applying Paint to the walls - Begin painting with your brushes and paints. Make sure the paint in the bucket is adequate. Dip your brush into the paint and use circular motion to get rid of bubbles. Ensure two coats of paint are applied.

6. Drying the paint - Make Sure you leave the paint to dry for at least 12-24 hours. Store the brushes in a cool dry place. Clean any paint remnants and remove the old clothes from the furniture.

How to Paint Inside of House?

• You must have a clear picture of the way you want to paint the interiors. Decide the colours for the specific rooms, and keep the tools and the needed amount of paint ready. 

• Remove all the furniture from the place. I recommend covering the furniture well if moving them is not an option for you.

• Check that the walls are free from any cracks, holes or dents. Use a putty knife and wall putty to cover any of these imperfections. Make sure the surface is even.

• Make a map of the places where you will begin and end the painting of the interiors. Although, you can pick any room you want to begin and end with.

• Apply the painter’s tape to cover the trim, windows and doors. Then, spread drop cloths on the floors in the room you’re going to paint.

• Then comes priming the walls. Choose a good quality primer and apply a coat of it on the walls.

• After the primer dries, sand the surface with a fine grit sandpaper folded four times. Change the sandpaper as it will continue to be covered with dust.

• Wipe the wall clean using a damp sponge and let the wall dry.

• It is now time to paint the walls. Work your way from top to down. Use a small brush and delicate hands to reach tough areas and paint slowly. For the larger areas, use rollers.

• Apply 2-4 coats of the paint and let the wall dry completely. Do these steps for each room of your house.
