How to Paint a Wall with a Roller?

Since painting with a brush takes time I decided to paint the wall of my living room with a paint roller. I didn’t know about the process of painting with a roller and thus, I called my uncle who always paints his house. I asked him how to paint the wall with roller and here are the steps that he asked me to follow.

Here are the steps that my uncle informed me to paint the walls. 

• Remove all the furniture from the room and cover the floor with clothes to prevent the floor from getting dirty. 

• Now add painter’s tape on the areas of the walls that I wanted to keep clean. 

• After that, thoroughly stir the paint in the bucket before pouring it into the paint tray.

• Following that, I had to dip the roller into the paint on the tray and roll it back and forth several times. 

• Finally, to apply the paint to the wall, I had to roll a “W” on the wall with the roller, filling the empty spaces in a top to bottom motion. 

And that’s what he told me when I asked him how to paint with roller on wall. My uncle also told me to wait till the wall is dry before applying a second coat of paint. Hope this helps. 

Using a paint roller over paint brushes not only makes the task easy but also saves both time and money. Roller holds much more color than a brush so you need not deep it frequently and can paint a large area easily with it. The best way to paint a room with a roller will not only require a roller brush but also several things like:

• The proper size of roller( To paint a large area, go for 14 to 18 inches roller, for a small area, choose a 4 to 7-inch roller)

• For painting high walls, you will need extensions for the roller or can also use a ladder

• Paint

• Paint tray

• Paint bucket

• Clothes

• Mask

• Painter's tape

Painting with a roller brush is very easy but before starting, do ensure that you are wearing a mask and keeping all the windows open. Allow proper ventilation or else the smell of the paint can affect you. The next steps are:

• Apply painter’s tape on the areas or parts where you don't want to apply paint, like on switchboards, windows, door frames, lights, switches, or wherever necessary.

• Stir the paint in the bucket thoroughly and pour it into the paint tray

• Dip the roller in the paint and draw horizontal strokes 3 to 4 times, as needed.

• It is best to start painting from the middle of the wall but it is not compulsory.

• Let the wall dry completely in between the paint coats

• Remove the painter’s tape
