Hi there. I saw you asking how to paint baseboards with carpet. I got the same job done at my home a while ago. So, let me share the process with you.

How Do You Paint Baseboard with Carpet?

  1. First of all, use plastic or drop cloth. Lay it down along the wall where your carpet meets the baseboard.

  2. Now, lay tape along the bottom of your wall to cover the drywall directly above the baseboard. Pull the tape out 2-3 feet at a time and gently press it against the wall. Repeat this for every wall in the room till each wall is taped off.

  3. Using a damp cloth wipe your baseboards. Remove dust and let the boards dry completely. Use 100-180 grit sandpaper to sand the wood.

  4. Then, using a small sandpaper sheet, rub it gently along a portion of the baseboard till the previous paint layer starts smoothing into the wood. Wipe the baseboards with a dry cloth.

  5. Pull out about 2-3 feet of tape and place it along the sticky side down over your carpet and drop cloth where it comes in contact with the baseboard. Don’t press down.

  6. Use a knife and stick it at a 15-degree angle to the floor and keep it in between the carpet and the baseboard.

  7. Press it gently into the wall to pull the tape that was sitting on the bottom of the baseboard under it. Place your knife between the wall and the carpet for every section of the room and press the tape down lightly after you're done.

  8. Stand on your drop cloth and mix your paint till the colour becomes even and uniform. You can use oil-based or latex paint for this job.

  9. Open the windows of the room where you are painting to improve ventilation and help against the strong paint fumes.

  10. Dip your paintbrush into the paint and tap it in the dry section of your paint tray. Use back and forth strokes to apply paint in a way that you cover each section around 2 to 3 times.

  11. After applying paint over the top and middle sections, dip your brush into the paint tray and tap it repeatedly to get rid of excess paint. Painting at an angle of 45 degrees along with the long end facing the carpet, paint the bottom of the baseboard slowly.

  12. Let the baseboard dry for 2-3 hours and then, remove the drop cloth and other materials. Pull the masking tape’s long side up a bit and slide it out from underneath the baseboard. Do this for all the sections.

This is how to paint baseboards with carpet. I hope this helps.
