Hi Akull. I recently painted my bathroom cabinet as it had lost its appearance. So, I’ll be happy to tell you how to paint bathroom cabinets. I took a friend’s help to quickly do things, and the result was pretty great. You start by removing the cabinet doors, shelves, and other parts. Then comes cleaning, after which the actual process begins. I will share the detailed method below.

How to Repaint Bathroom Cabinets?

Here is the process:

  1. First, remove all the doors, drawers, and adjustable shelves from your cabinet and set them aside.

  2. Take off all the hardware and hinges and keep them in a sealed plastic bag.

  3. Clean the cabinet doors and drawers using trisodium phosphate or any other degreasing cleaning solution.

  4. Scrub and rinse with clean water. Let the surfaces dry.

  5. Use wood putty or wood filler to fill any scratches or holes. Let them dry as per the prescribed time.

  6. Use 150-grit sandpaper and sand the surfaces to remove the clear paint coat.

  7. Move to 220-grit sandpaper and sand till the surface smoothens and looks dull.

  8. Vacuum the surface to remove the dust. Take a damp microfiber cloth to remove the leftover dust. Let the surface dry completely.

  9. Apply painter’s tape to the walls in the surroundings, the flooring and any other area where the paint can splatter.

  10. Apply primer over the cabinet surfaces with a tapered brush for edges and a roller for large surfaces.

  11. Once the primer dries, use 220-grit sandpaper and wipe everything clean using a damp microfiber cloth.

  12. Apply a light coat of paint over the doors. Flip the doors after painting one side to move to painting the other.

  13. After the first coat dries, sand again with 220-grit sandpaper and wipe later. Apply a second coat and let it dry in the process of how to paint bathroom cabinets.

  14. Remove the painter’s tape and reassemble the cabinet pieces.

This is how to paint bathroom wood cabinets. I hope it helps.

Hi buddy. I decided to have my bathroom cabinets refinished in order to give my space a fresh new look. So, I researched the cost-effective method on how to repaint bathroom cabinets. I watched a YouTube video that explained that you should gather all the tools you'll need, such as a screwdriver, sandpaper, primer, paint, and so on, before beginning repainting.

How to Paint Bathroom Vanity Cabinets?

I came across the following steps for painting the bathroom cabinet:

  • Taking everything out of the cabinets is the first step.

  • The cabinet doors and drawers must then be removed with a screwdriver. This facilitates uniform painting of all surfaces.

  • Next, sand the entire cabinet surface to provide a flat surface on which the fresh paint can stick.

  • Now is the time to prime the surface. Primer provides a smoother finish and aids with the paint's adhesion to the surface.

  • Let the primer dry fully before proceeding.

  • Paint the vanity cabinets with two to three coats of premium paint, allowing each coat to fully dry before applying the next.

  • Finally, replace the drawers and cabinet doors and put everything back in place.

I found the above steps time-consuming, so I decided to hire a professional painter. I hope this helps you get an idea of how do you paint bathroom cabinets.

How to paint your bathroom cabinets?

1) Dismantle all the parts

You should remove cabinet doors, latches, and handles with a screwdriver from your cabinet. After that, manually remove the drawers, and arrange them on a cloth so they are spread apart. Mark every door and cabinet to make sure you know where everything goes when it's ready to reassemble.

2) Sand the surface

A new coat of primer and paint will stick better and last longer if the old gloss and paint are removed with sandpaper. Not all of it needs to be removed completely. It will be enough to gently sand the surface until it is rough to ensure that the new coat sticks. When you're through, use a sponge to remove any dust that is stuck to your cabinet surfaces and a cleaner to remove any other debris.

3) Clean up your cabinet

The defects in your bathroom cabinet will be removed, and a smooth surface will be created so that you can paint on it. Cover the interior of your bathroom cabinet with newspapers or plastic to keep it clean if you've chosen to paint only the front-facing portions of it. If not, you're allowed to paint the whole item, just make sure to sand it properly.

4) Paint the cabinet

You can begin painting your cabinet doors as soon as they have been thoroughly primed and prepared. For bathroom cabinets, oil, latex, and chalk-based paints are typically the best options. Once the surfaces are completely and uniformly covered, apply 2 to 3 coats of paint, allowing every coat dry before applying a new one. A maximum of 3 coats should be required to complete this.

I hope you understood how to paint bathroom cabinets.
