Hey. We have French doors with glasses in our house. Last year, we thought of changing the colour of the doors and did a decent job as my partner really helped. So, I can share how to paint French doors with glass. You’d need masking liquid, angled brush, primer and paint for this job. I will describe the process by breaking it into steps.
How to Paint Glass French Doors?
Below, you can find the complete process of painting french glass doors:
Use a 3” angled brush to apply a thick layer of masking liquid to all the glass window panes. This should take around 10 to 15 minutes for each door.
You don’t need to worry if some of it gets on the grids. Let the masking liquid dry for a few hours.
You’ll see a clear film once the liquid dries. The masking liquid takes about 1 day to fully dry.
Move on to priming the door with the colour of your choice. If you have a new door, it doesn’t need to be prime. However, for an existing door, prime it without fail.
Apply 2 coats of the primer, waiting between coats for the previous one to dry completely.
Score the edges of the window panes using a utility knife blade with the help of a sharp razor blade.
Paint with the top coat of your choice. Usually, 2-3 coats are enough.
Finally, peel back a corner of the film on the glass pane and remove it as it comes off in one sheet. Ensure to remove the mask and peel within 2 days of application.
This is all about the method. I hope you find the steps useful.
