Hey! I am an interior designer by profession. If you’re looking for a place which answers how to paint geometric designs on walls, you’re on the right track. Creating geometric designs is both fun and pocket-friendly. Here’s how to paint geometric shapes on wall. Please find the steps below.
How to paint geometric pattern on wall
- Select your shapes and colours
The first step is to choose a design you like. This may take a while, so go through the internet and pick a pattern that suits your style. After doing so, you need to pick the colours as well. At times, we like the colour shown in the pattern. But when that’s not the case, you have to go through various colour combinations for the job. So choose wisely.
- Create a stencil
The next step is to outline the shape with the help of a stencil. You can make one using cardboard, ruler, pen, pencil, marker, chalk, scissors, and a penknife.
- Get the wall ready
Get rid of all the dirt that sticks to the wall. It is important to clean the surface so that the paint doesn’t come off later. You can prepare your wall by following these instructions.
Use a paint scraper to rip off any peeling paint.
Use a wall putty to seal any existing holes (if any) and let it to dry.
Sand the surface and clean the area.
Wipe the walls with a wet and soft sponge or a damp cloth.
Use a painter’s tape to cover the baseboard and ceilings.
Use a paint sealer to prime your walls.
- Apply base colour
Once the paint sealer dries completely, begin painting the wall with your base colour. Let it dry before you apply the second coat to eliminate any chances of peeling.
- Make an outline
It is time to draw an outline of your design after the base colour has completely dried. Do so with a pencil and the stencil you made. Start from the centre area and then move towards the sides for an even outline.
- Use the painter’s tape
Apply the painter’s tape over the outline cautiously. Take the help of a ruler to ensure that the tape doesn’t run away from the drawn outline.
- Paint the design
Now, get started with painting your shapes. You should paint a little over the tape as well so that the resulting lines are straight. Do not take too much paint in your brush as there are chances that it goes under the tape.
- Take the tape off
After the paint dries out completely, carefully remove the painter’s tape.
Voila, the paint job is finished! I hope this helps you to understand how to paint geometric designs on walls.
