Recently, I planned to get my walls painted and reached out to my cousin, a painting contractor, for advice on which paint to choose. He suggested a few options, including Gyprock paint, which caught my attention for its high-quality and durability. So, I researched how to paint Gyprock walls. I found all I need to do is clean the surface, followed by priming and so on. I have shared the detailed process below.
How to Paint New Gyprock Walls?
Here is the painting process I came across.
You must wipe down the walls with a damp cloth and let it dry.
After that, fill holes with joint compound using a putty knife.
You must allow the compound to dry.
Now sand it smooth with fine-grit sandpaper.
Apply a primer made for Gyprock to edges and corners with a paintbrush.
Use a roller with an extension pole for larger areas.
Apply a thin, even coat and let it dry completely.
Once dried, you must lightly coat the surface with fine-grit sandpaper to smooth it out.
I am planning to hire a professional painter as it is out of my area. I hope this will help you.
