How to paint house trim ?

How to Paint House Trim?

It is easy to paint house trim. Since I have already done it, here is a brief of my entire working process:

• Cleaning: I started by wiping down the trim with a damp cloth to remove all the dust and dirt. There were a few spots where the old paint had peeled, so I sanded those areas down. I also made sure to tape off the rims to protect the walls and floors.

• Priming the Trim: The next step that I followed was to apply primer paint. You can apply one coat or even two as you feel the need. 

• Picking the Right Paint: After some research, I went with a high-gloss paint for the trim. If you want, you can use some other paint. 

• Painting with Proper Brushes: Using a small, I applied the paint slowly and steadily. The first coat went on well, but I applied a second coat to get a better finish. 

• Finishing Up: Once it dried, I carefully pulled the tape off, checked for any little missed spots, and applied paint there.

This is how to repaint trim on house as well. It is time-consuming work but doable if you have painting experience. In case of doubt, hire a professional and get the task done.

Have you ever painted a piece of furniture and felt extremely proud of yourself for doing a good job? Professional painters have a special method to make sure there are no visible scuff marks or brush marks. I will tell you how to paint house trim without brush marks. You should get a thin brush with nylon bristles and a clean cloth to wipe excess paint. 

Before I share with you how to paint trim without tape. You should know how to prepare the trim for painting. 

• Scrub the dirt and debris that is collected on the trim with a scrub brush. 

• You can use a solution of trisodium phosphate (TSP) for thorough cleaning. 

• You might need to scrap, stripe, reglaze, brush the wire, fill the gaps, and caulk all corners with vinyl exterior spackling compound.

• Dip 2"-2½" wide nylon/polyester brush into the paint bucket and wipe away the excess

• Start painting from the corner of the trim. 

• Use a smooth motion with your angular brush.

• Paint the corners where the trim meets the window. Do so in small panels. 

• Reload the brush if it's necessary

• Imagine that you are drawing a boundary line on the trim, leaving the middle portion empty. 

• With a roller brush, paint the middle portion. 

• Add a second coat once the initial paint has dried.
