Last year during winter vacation, I painted my outdoor pine wood coffee table. If you are not sure about the task, you should hire a professional. However, as I had plenty of time, I opted for this exciting DIY painting task. It is because pine is a softwood, improper preparation can cause uneven paint absorption. So if you want to know how to paint pine wood for outdoor use, I can share the steps here with you.
How to Paint on Pine Wood?
For painting my pine wood coffee table, I opted for Asian Paints WoodTech Touchwood Interior & Exterior. There is no need for a separate sealer coat while applying the WoodTech Touchwood paint. Since the same material can be used for both undercoat and topcoat, it ends up being a wise financial decision. The steps that I took are as follows,
I used a 120-grit sandpaper for sanding the coffee table, ensuring that any imperfections are removed.
After this, it is recommended to apply a primer/ sealer. But as I already said that I had opted for Asian Paints WoodTech Touchwood, where there was no need to apply a sealer. So I applied this on the table.
Once it was dried (I let it dry for around 24 hours), I again lightly sand the table using a finer grit, around 220, just to smooth out any rough patches.
Then again I applied another coat of the paint. Usually, two coats are enough, but sometimes a third is necessary for full coverage.
This is all about how to paint over pine wood. Hope these steps will help you paint your pine wood furniture.
