I have powder coated window frames in my house. I painted them a while ago. So, I can be the right person to tell you how to paint powder coated window frames. You’ll first have to assess the condition of the powder coating and clean it accordingly. Then comes using a scourer pad to scrub the region, followed by priming and painting. Let me share the complete process with you.

How to Paint Powder Coated Aluminium Window Frames?

Here is a simple method you can use to powder coat your window frames:

  1. Begin by analysing the condition of the current powder coat.

  2. If the surface has a powdery texture, you will have to wash and clean it with a stiff bristled brush and soapy water.

  3. Use a Scotch Brite scourer pad or something similar and thoroughly scrub the whole surface.

  4. Then, rinse the region using clean water and let it dry. Once dry, test the surface by running your finger across it to check for any leftover powdery residue.

  5. Repeat the process till there is no powder residue on your fingers. Do a final wash with sugar soap, followed by rinsing with clean water and allowing the surface to dry.

  6. Use a high quality primer. Let it dry completely and then apply the appropriate paint.

  7. Around 2-3 coats of enamel paint would do. Give a break between each coat for the previous one to dry.
